Maple’s class-leading rainscreen cladding system has been developed to be quicker and easier to install.

In the latest in a series of blogs explaining how the new system will address major industry pain points, we’re looking at the sub-structure.

Mullions and carrier rails have been designed and manufactured using Maple’s 30 years’ experience of creating extruded aluminium components for the solar screening and architectural façade sectors.

“For health and safety reasons, it’s important that people are working at height for a little time as possible,” said Maple’s Managing Director, Sean McGrath.

Our vertical mullions can have clips pre-fixed in the factory at set intervals, allowing the horizontal rails to hook on easily on-site. The rainscreen panels are then fixed to the rails, which are serrated to allow for minor adjustment before final fix.

When used alongside Maple’s patent-pending brackets and insulation clips, the sub-structure components will create a commercially viable solution for clients.

“Maple has a long-standing reputation for service, product-knowledge and being pro-active in product and system design,” added Sean. “So, our system has been designed to address the major manufacturing and installation pain points within the sector.”

As well as being easier and quicker to install, Maple’s clip system has been designed to the exacting tolerances demanded by today’s architects. Sean added: “Rainscreen cladding systems have important practical functions - they must protect the exterior of buildings from the weather, improve thermal performance, and meet fire and combustibility standards.

“But they can also improve a building’s appearance. Our system can, therefore, provide the clean, straight lines and subtle detail required by architects.”
