Elliott’s Field Retail Park in Rugby is one of very few UK retail parks to have achieved a BREEAM ‘excellent’ rating for sustainability.

It has also put the needs of retailers first since the first phase of redevelopment was completed in 2015.

One of the key features was double height shop fronts that gave retailers such as Next, H&M, Mothercare, Fat Face and River Island maximum brand presence. However, with large areas of structural glazing comes issues of solar glare and overheating (bad for stock and customers).

In response, architects Piper Whitlock and Keir Group Construction will work with Maple on the next redevelopment phase. We will manufacture and install brise soleil solar shading above the shop fronts to protect the retail units from the worst of direct sunlight.

We will use our modular, six-blade timber Climate Façade Corona system across eight bays, and our Corona system across a further 18. The latter will be created in sustainably-sourced western red cedar ― evidence that while our wood-effect powder coating is increasingly popular, architects are still specifying natural products.
